City Vibes
For this miniature scene, I wanted to show and really create the feeling
of a home in a city skyscraper. It was also an opportunity to see what I
could create in terms of lighting in a scene.
The home resides on three stories of a skyscraper with a living room,
kitchen, master bedroom ensuite, a study, and a TV room. It is a rehab
of my 'Haunted House,' which can be found
HERE. Much of the miniatures were handmade by me using kits and
miniature-related tutorials and 1-inch scaled furniture from
measurements of current, actual-size retail pieces (i.e., the kitchen
table/stools and the desk). Some other pieces were bought.
The window views were created from one high-resolution image so that the
skyscrapers could appear more realistic with less lighting appearing on
the upper floors. The walls with the windows and the middle walls are
removable. This was done so I could place the lighting (fairy lights
taped against the walls) behind each window view. The wall is then
placed on the image. Gatorboard was used to create all the walls. I
designed and printed the wallpaper on cardstock and the rugs were
created from designs of retail rugs and printed on canvas paper.
This was such a fun project and an opportunity to create something
beautiful. 😊
